Pink "Try"

This is Pink's newest single and I am totally in love with it. The song has a lot of variety it is slow at times and a bit somber but also very powerful with the chorus. My favorite lyric has to be "But just because it burns doesn't mean you're going to die" I know often times we go through hard times in our life but they saying it true "What doesn't kill you does make your stronger" (Yes, I know that is also the title of a Kelly Clarkson song). I love the message of the song just getting up and trying. Pink is just such a survivor and I think that is what makes her music so great all the passion she has. Enjoy!

Coldplay "Paradise"

I first heard this Coldplay song about a year ago. It was the second single released from their Mylo Xyloto album. There really isn't a Coldplay I don't like but this song is my new favorite. The lyrics really speak to me. My favorite lyrics is "When she was just a girl she expected the world but it flew away from her reach." It sounds just like my childhood. I was very privileged growing up. I was an only child and only grandchild so I was raised to believe I could have whatever I wanted. As I grew up I started to learn that the rest of the world doesn't work that way and throwing a tantrum won't help. This was a bit depressing but luckily I think I have grown out of that. The other part of the song talks about sleeping as a coping mechanism for depression and while some people drink or abuse drugs I love to sleep as my escape. I just really can't say enough about how much I love this song. I hope you like it as much as I do. Enjoy!

Ingrid Michaelson "Be Ok"

I have been listening to this song for a few years now but when it shuffled on to my ipod this morning I had to write about it. My favorite line in the song is about feeling like "I'm a gallery of broken hearts" yeah  I have been there. In fact I am pretty sure I am a gallery of broken hearts and should start charging people to see them. Anyway what I love about this song is it's about getting through those heartaches and being okay. Well I am. I spent some time with my girlfriends last night and heard all about my ex boyfriends engagement and new fiance. I even asked questions about the ring and proposal and you know what I was okay! I am okay it will be okay just like Ingrid Michelson says. Such a huge relief that I am not doomed to be some broken hearted girl forever. This song just makes me feel better and I hope you enjoy it too!

The Beatles "Let it Be"

Yes, I admit I love the Beatles. I love everything from the poppy early stuff to the later deeper stuff. I thought of this song last week when I was spending time with my friend. He noticed that I tend to worry a lot and get very upset about things out of my control. He told me just to feel things and let them be without any sort of judgement on my part. Well that is asking a lot of a control freak like me! I tried it out though because I ended up having a pretty emotional rest of the week I must say it was pretty helpful. I tried to just feel what a felt instead of trying to fix anything. In the song Mother Mary comes and speaks the words of wisdom which is "Let it be" in times of darkness or heartbreak just "Let it be." I suggest giving it a try because well it couldn't hurt anything. Enjoy a classic Beatles song.

Adele "Someone Like You"

Well I know I have been absent for awhile I am not so good with commitment to things like blogs but last night I heard the most perfect song and had to share. This song is not new in fact it came out back in January of 2011. I just hadn't heard it in awhile. To give a little background of my day on Wednesday it went like this feeling great to feeling like I was hit in the stomach. I found out my ex boyfriend was engaged. This is happy news he found someone great he wants to marry for that I am happy. We broke up almost two years ago and I thought I was very much past this. I have dated other people but none worked out to the point of enagement. I guess at somepoint I just started to hide from him physically and emotionally. I avoided places he might be and while I stayed friends on Facebook I didn't read any of his posts. Maybe that is why the news hit me with tears instead of joy for a person I care very much about. Later that evening I was feeling okay again when I came into my kitchen hit with the Adele song I forgot even existed the lyrics hit me "I heard you found someone and settled down" and there went the tears again. I read up on the song. Adele wrote the song after she broke up with her serious boyfriend one she planned on marrying. He got engaged shortly after. She was sitting on her bed with a bad cold waiting for her bath water to warm up when she got the call she was engaged. She penned this song right there. I feel her pain. This is a beautiful and heartbreaking song that I highly recommend even if it does bring some tears. Enjoy!

Train "50 Ways to Say Goodbye"

I thought I should post something from Train since I am going to see them in concert of Sunday night. I have been listening to this band since I was in high school and I have always enjoyed every song they put out. That said I really didn't pay much attention to this song 50 ways to say goodbye when it first started playing on the radio. I think I didn't really love the intro for this song because it kind of has a spanish dance vibe that just doesn't fit with Train music that you here on the radio or the song premise. That said in concert which I have been lucky enough to see them twice before. The lead singer Pat does all sorts of things with their songs like adding spanish dancing that you might not expect but is cool and creative live. So I ignored this song for awhile. Then I figured last night I should down load it. If you get past the intro and into the song about a guy getting dumped and what he is going to tell everyone it's amazing. Just the idea of telling someone your ex got eaten by a shark or lion just makes me laugh because it's totally something we would want to do in an effort to avoid telling someone we got dumped. I just love this song now and even the intro is growing on me. I had it on repeat all last night and this morning. Can't wait to see it live this Sunday. Enjoy the song and enjoy Train.

Michael Buble "Just Haven't Met You Yet"

So I have a date tonight with a guy I haven't met so this song just seemed appropriate. I love the line "I've Broken my Heart so many times I've stopped keeping track." since it's at the beginning of the song you think it could be kind of a sad song. However it is one of the most optimistic songs ever. He never doubts that he will find love he just hasn't found it yet. I love Michael Buble he reminds me of the old crooners like Sinatra and Tony Bennett you I love to this day. Hope you enjoy it!
